Hunting and Conservation Coalition Symposium

Peter Maggenti/George Oberstadt

CHEIA has become involved with the Hunting and Conservation Coalition Symposium, along with many other organizations throughout the state to help bring a unified voice for hunters and conservationists. The group meets quarterly and discusses upcoming legislation as well as potential legislation which may affect hunters and conservation in California. The Department of Fish and Wildlife also has come to the table with this organization to help facilitate our group moving forward and keeping us informed as to the Departments actions and upcoming events.

One of the major components of the Symposium is the R3 Task Force. California NGO’s including CWA, CDA, and CRPA along with national conservation organizations such as NWTF, SCI, RMEF have partnered with CA Department of Fish and Wildlife to create a statewide R3 (Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation) task force. The goals of the task force is to increase interest and participation in hunting and fishing in California. Many great ideas are being discussed along with reviews of national and state R3 plans to come up with efforts to preserve our outdoor heritages for generations to come. for more information and/or you wish to be involved with the R3 Task Force, please contact George Oberstadt, Hunting Heritage Programs, 1346 Blue Oaks Boulevard, Roseville, CA 95678 goberstadt@calwaterfowl.org
